The Church of England is looking for an Audio Producer to join the award-winning Digital Team.

Can you record and edit broadcast quality audio output to be used across a range of national Church campaigns? If so, they are recruiting for an exciting new role in the Church of England’s Publishing and Digital Teams. This has been created to build on the success of award-winning* audio output developed for Christmas, Lent and at other key moments of the year.

Working across Church House Publishing and the Digital Team, you will build on their great success in delivering daily audio content. The Daily Prayer and Time to Pray podcasts in particular have seen 8 million total downloads with 1.5 million unique listeners and this role would involve maintaining, developing and further accelerating this achievement.

Requirements

You will also lead on creating content for integrated campaigns at Christmas, Lent and other key periods that engage millions; along with helping to provide digital resources that enable thousands of churches to get the most from the web and social media. The main responsibilities for this role are:

  • Ownership of running the Church House Westminster studio, broadcast suite and the booking process.
  • Responsible for recording and editing broadcast quality audio output to be used across a range of Church campaigns, including Christmas, Lent and other major Christian festivals. You will oversee this process from start to finish using industry standard hardware and software.
  • Day to day project management and production of the Church of England’s 4x daily prayer podcasts.
  • Identify opportunities for the Church to expand the reach of its audio output across new and emerging platforms as well as potentials partnerships with national broadcasters such as the BBC.
  • Evaluate the impact and reach of audio and creative content recorded so that we keep improving our output.
  • Helping to identify where content produced is best placed to maximise reach and engagement.
  • Providing audio expertise to the Digital Team and Church House Publishing.
  • Bring Church House Publishing printed and digital materials to life through audio.
  • Providing on location audio recording capability, particularly for Christmas filming projects.
  • Providing support, consultation and training to other NCIs departments in relation to their audio outputs.
  • Managing freelancers and hired voice talent who provide support on Digital team and Church House Publishing audio projects.
  • Development and management of a pool of voice talent inside of and linked to the NCIs, with a focus on diversity.
  • Speaking at both internal and external conferences and webinars on the Church of England’s audio, and writing blogs on how to use audio as part of a digital marketing strategy.
  • Weekend and evening social media monitoring on a rota basis.The ideal candidate must have:

Essential

  • Prior experience running recording studios and managing voiceover artists.
    Professional audio mixing and using sound effects.
    A good knowledge of audio interfaces and hardware, including location recording equipment.
    Ability to use industry standard software such as Pro Tools, Adobe Audition and Izotope RX.
    An understanding of spatial audio production, formats and workflows.
    A solid understanding of working in a digital environment.
    Strong project management and organisation skills.
    Excellent communication skills.
    Ability to work in a small core team, and as part of a wider team during certain events.
    Ability to work under pressure during busy periods.
    Excellent IT skills with Microsoft Office and other industry standard applications.
    Basic design/video skills for podcast image and audiogram creation.
    An awareness and understanding of the Christian faith.
